Experiments and Intensities is a hybrid format publication. We place art at the centre of research processes. Each volume of the work has its own character: sometimes a gallery, sometimes an online listening pod, sometimes writing and rigorous reflection, and sometimes none or all of these. What all volumes have in common is that in some way they ask us questions about the nature of time-based art and what it says, its potentials, its limitations, and where it can take us next. We move back and forth from the lo-fi fringes, even straight-up trash-art, through to more formal and polished work. Each work included poses challenges to what we expect time-based art to do for us: sometimes subtly, sometimes overtly. Walk with us down this sometime rocky, muddy and wet – sometimes glistening – and always slippery – road.
